How Products Deliver Value
Come for the X, Stay for the Y by @Braden Kowitz
The Gist
There are two kinds of value that products offer to people: apparent value and discoverable value.
The Gem
Apparent value — The kind of value that is easy to explain and gets users to sign up. It fixes a pain point that customers already experience.
Discoverable value — The kind of value that becomes apparent as the customers use the product over time — subtle improvements that add up and make a big difference in the experience.
Why I Chose this
Value is the underlying currency of all consumer decisions. It is the combination of rational and irrational processes in the brain that guide our subconscious to determine what is attractive (or not) about a product, service or experience.
Having a solid command of your product’s underlying theory of value is critical and this blog post helps creators identify and prioritize value propositions to align with how consumers think about value.
