4 top tips for Flashlight Tour

Be prepared…

  1. Dress Warm and explore outside.

Because our flashlight tours take place in January through March — there is a good chance it will be chilly. Even just the walk up to the house can be chilly so be prepared.

But most importantly it has been fairly common to have some great moonlight during the time of the flashlight tour. We advise to explore the grounds in the dark. It is a very different way to experience the grounds and is worth it. Dress for it.

2. Use Smart Camera for photos

Oddly enough, most smart cameras have better stabilizers than most SLRs. So in many situations the best photos are taken by smartphones on the no-flash mode. There are many great photos to be taken, so take advantage. Flash is still not allowed, but really the best photos are taken with a no-flash anyways.

Also, if you have some fun shots, feel free to share with us by using the hashtag — #glensheen. We are active on both twitter and instagram.

3. Take the expanded tour afterwards or before

One of the biggest regrets or complaints is that guests want to see the house in the light after they take the Flashlight tour. So be ahead of the game and prebook a daytime tour before or after your Flashlight tour so you can compare. Many things do look different in the day versus the night.

4. Great Date night activity

Looking for a fun date night activity? There are few better in town than the Flashlight tour. Go have dinner and then come for the Flashlight Tour. As a heads up the only folks allowed a flashlight on the tour are the tour guides. So you and your date will be in the dark the entire duration of the tour. It definitely adds to the date experience.
