Here are 5 easy tips to make your experience even more awesome.

1. Just drive straight to the lot with the shuttle.

Thursday — UMD Parking Lot

Friday — Sunday — East High School Lot

Most folks drive to Glensheen and drive around for ten minutes trying to find a spot. Save yourself the time and frustration and head straight to the overflow lot where we will have several shuttles going back and forth from Glensheen.

Because there will probably be over 5,000 people in four days, our lot (which only has 180 spaces) will be full almost the entire event.

3. Dress Warmly

The entire event is outside, so make sure to be prepared to be out in the elements. If you have kids, dress them warmly.

With that said, there will be fire pits at the end for your chance to roast your own S’mores. Plus, hot chocolate and coffee available in the gift shop.

3. A. Bring your smartphone

A. Oddly enough, because of the darkness of the event your smartphone tends to do a fairly decent job of capturing the awesomeness that is Spooktacular. In many situations, smartphone photos turn out better than amateur SLR photos.

or B. Have an SLR — bring a tripod

B. Because of the combo of darkness and lit up pumpkins. Your camera really needs the steadiness of a tripod. Trust us…as steady as you think you are, a tripod is better.

4. #glensheen — hashtag us

If you do take a great photo of Glensheen — please go ahead and add our #glensheen hashtag to your social post.

We are very active on Instagram, Twitter and of course Facebook. There is a good chance we will pick our favorites and promote those across our channels.

Also, follow our social channels to see what other people are doing for fun photo ideas.

5. Watch for the glow necklaces

Throughout the tour there will be staff stationed wearing glow necklaces. They will help to alert you of obstacles or stairs on the path.

Plus they can help point out neat parts of the event you may not notice. For example, in the tennis court the pumpkins will be playing tennis.
