Well, snow in April is about what we should expect when you are in Minnesota. We are hopeful for spring though and are embracing typical spring activities like making maple syrup! The beginning of a new month marks the start of a new event series, April’s event series is Mouthful of Maple.
Mouthful of Maple
April’s event series, Mouthful of Maple, is brought to you in collaboration with local favorite, Duluth Grill. Every Wednesday night in April guests will have the chance to sample four different recipes by Duluth Grill, that are made with locally sourced, maple syrup. You heard that right, FREE FOOD from DULUTH GRILL.
Plus, we are lucky to have Debbie Morrison with Sapsucker Farms giving us a brief syrup symposium talk about how maple syrup is made, a bit about their business and their family’s connection to the Congdons.
Word on the street is there will be maple fudge and maple crem brule as two of the dishes

Glensheen Day on the Hill
We are taking a bus down to the MN State Capitol!
In this room, we will have tables with historic items from Glensheen, Clara Congdon’s Cookies from Johnson’s Bakery, and some poster boards explaining the critical repairs that need to be fixed at Glensheen.
From 10:00 am — 2:00 pm, we will be inviting legislators to stop by the room to grab a cookie, learn about some Glensheen history, and hear about our need for restoration.
Folks can choose to catch the bus from Glensheen at 7:00 am or at the UMD Bus Hub at 7:30 AM then ride down to the State Capitol. It is FREE to attend!
We will work to schedule meetings with legislators to directly advocate for Glensheen’s need. The Glensheen bus will depart from the capital at 2:00 pm. When returning to Duluth, we will drop off people at the UMD Bus Hub at 4:30 pm and at Glensheen at 5:00 pm.
It is very important that if you will be attending, please send an RSVP via email to Glensheen Director, Dan Hartman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please RSVP by 4:00 pm on Friday, April 13th with your full name and home address. This information will be used to arrange meetings with legislators.
