TOURS ARE AVAILABLE UNTIL 7:00 PM EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT THIS SUMMER. (This is a great way to snag a parking spot and the best seat in the house.) Purchase online ahead of time at glensheen.org. Or, not worry about parking at all and kayak here with our friends at Duluth Experience or Day Tripper of Duluth.

Why does Glensheen fund this event? Because it’s the perfect celebration of Minnesotan music, our beautiful lake, and your favorite quirky house museum. Chester and Clara Congdon were big believers in the talent of Minnesota’s craftsmen and women. Therefore, Glensheen strives to inspire Minnesota pride by preserving and sharing the legacy of Glensheen. (Psst! That’s our Vision Statement.) If you’ve ever been to Concerts on the Pier, you know that with all the Minnesota magic coming together, it ends up being something inspiring that people are proud to have happening in their community.

Concerts on the Pier is also a great opportunity to experience Glensheen in a new light. Many people in recent years have said they had never been to Glensheen until they attended Concerts on the Pier. There’s just something about Lake Superior, live outdoor local music, set on the historic grounds of Glensheen that makes it special.

Photo Tour

Only a handful of years ago, it was nearly unheard of that a house museum allowed photography. Today, Glensheen embraces photography completely. We now encourage guests to take pictures on tour, and we’ve even created an entire tour for just this purpose!

The freedom to take pictures in all the most photogenic spots, and the chance to freely experience the Midwest’s most visited House Museum are just a few reasons why the photo tour is awesome. Plus, the tour groups are maxed out at 10, making it one of smaller and more personalized tours.

Get up close and personal with the things you may have completely passed over in other tours. The picture above is the underbelly of the copper water lily light fixture in Chester’s Den.

Summer Self-Guided Tours

Two words: Treasure. Book.

During the summer months, Glensheen gives you the chance to explore the mansion at your own pace. Now is a better time than ever to take the kids to Glensheen. (A great way to kill an afternoon of summer vacation.)

We have been working to make your experience with kids at Glensheen better. Brand-spanking new this summer you have another option to enhance your family-friendly experience with the new Treasure Hunt. Follow along with Tim the Fox to find Glensheen’s keepsakes. FUN FACT: Tim the Fox is a real fox who frequents the Glensheen estate. He came around so often that the Glensheen staff gave him a name. Hence, Tim the Fox was born.

The Treasure Books is an interactive guide for children; this fun and educational book will engage the little ones in your group. And, has ended up being fun for all ages, adults included.

Extended Hours

Ever wish you could tour Glensheen after work or wish it could be a part of your date night? Well, now you can.

On Wednesday nights in July and August, Glensheen is offering tours until 7:00 pm. Have you put it all together yet? (hint: photo above)

This means that you can come to Glensheen at say, 5:00 pm, take a self-guided tour and snag your spot for Concerts on the Pier all before the gates open for the event. Then in August when the Shark Watching Society Bonfires event series roll around, it is a great way to enjoy a tour then continue your Glensheen experience with a bonfire on the shore of Lake Superior.

Our summer Instagram contest is back! Every Tuesday this summer, we will pick our favorite photo from the past week to win two tickets to various Glensheen tours.
