July is arguably the best month at Glensheen. It is the month of our crowd-favorite event series, Concerts on the Pier, school is out, the sun is high and Duluth is a paradise of perfect, 75 degree days.
Because we think there isn’t anything better than hanging out at Glensheen on a summer night… we’ve extended our tour hours and are now letting the public in on one of Glensheen staff’s best kept secrets;
A summer night on Glensheen’s Lake Superior shoreline is down right magical.
Here’s the onslaught of summer fun:

The Summer Evening Tour
This combines many of our best elements into one tour.
Experience the highlights of all five floors of Glensheen — including the attic and previously closed third floor. Plus, a feature only available in July and August, enjoy a narrated walk through our Vegetable & Formal gardens, onto our famous Stone Arch Bridge then finish with a showcase of our rarely opened Boathouse.
Come see Glensheen at the absolute best time — a summer evening.
Try to catch sunset on the estate. With our Lake Superior backdrop, it is a memorable experience.
There is a maximum of 10 people per tour. The Summer Evening Tour lasts about 2 hours. Visit us here for tour times and more information.
This is a BIG change!! Guests can now tour Glensheen at night, seven days a week — then sit by the lake and watch a sunset...
We are trying something that few other museums would try. We will be open from 9am to 9pm — seven days a week in July and August.
For many of us who work at Glensheen, the evening is when the estate looks the best. Often a Lake Superior sunset looks like it is not of this world.
At the height of summer, it is nice to escape the heat and be cooled down by Lake Superior. Plus, for all those folks who jam pack their vacation days with activities, this gives North Shore visitors the chance to relax at the end of the day at Glensheen.
We are continuing the new programming series we started for kids last month called, “Sunday Funday.” The new programming offers parents and their young children the chance to learn and be engaged with art, history, and fun.
The event takes place from 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm. The event is limited to the first 20 participants.
Guests are encouraged but not required to take a tour in order to attend the event. For Glensheen tour times and pricing, please visit, https://glensheen.org/
July 1st Sunday Funday: Creating Independence Day Windsocks in the Winter Garden. For the July 1st event, kids will be painting and creating blue, red and white colored windsocks to celebrate Independence Day. We will be in the Winter Garden. Register for the July 1st event here,

Concerts on the Pier
Last but certainly not least, this year’s Concerts on the Pier will kick off on July 4th. That’s right. The first Wednesday of the month just happens to be the Fourth of July.
GATES 6pm | MUSIC 7pm | FREE | ALL AGES
LOCAL BREWS, BEVS & FOOD
WALK | BIKE | BOAT
Concertgoers are encouraged to bike, boat, walk or kayak to the concerts due to limited parking. The parking lot and street parking fills quickly.
Please refer to the City of Duluth’s alternate side parking calendar when parking on neighborhood streets. Gates open at 6:00pm so be sure to arrive early to ensure a good spot. Music starts at 7:00pm and concludes at 8:00pm.
Bring your own chair or blanket to watch from the shoreline. Only service animals are allowed on the estate.
Glensheen offers tours from 9:00am — 9:00pm on Wednesday nights in July. Taking a tour prior to the concert is a great way to snag a good parking spot and the best seat on the shore.
