If you like to eat food and drink alcohol…

A good event would not be complete without great food and plenty of alcohol. At the 2015 Glensheen Gala: Unlocked, we plan to deliver just that. Chef Tom Linderholm and his team are ready to flex their culinary muscles with a heavy assortment of hors d’oeuvres. Discover delectable dishes at the various food stations across the estate. Maybe even try something new like, shucked oysters or smoked duck. Those with a sweet tooth, will be satisfied too with a full table of assorted tarts and cakes.

Glensheen has teamed up with Cash Wise and Blackwoods to ensure there will be no shortage of beverages for all to enjoy. To kick off the night, complimentary champagne will be offered to arriving guests. Two signature drinks that will be custom made for the Gala, will be offered (on the house) throughout the evening. The first will be a gin and strawberry puree cocktail named, ‘The 1908’. Named in celebration of the year Glensheen’s construction was completed. Need something a little more than the strawberry puree? The second drink features 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, the ‘Chester Man-Tini’. This one was named after Glensheen’s titan of industry, Chester Congdon.

If the champagne and signature drinks are not enough… all guests will receive one complimentary drink ticket upon arriving. This drink ticket can be used at any one of the three cash bars. Once you have depleted your free drinks, you may continue the night from our three cash bars. Two cash bars located in the Mansion and one in the Carriage House. Also in the Tack Room of the Carriage House, Duluth Coffee Company will be back with a full coffee bar.

If you like to explore…

Glensheen is a 27,000 square foot, 39-room mansion set on a seven-acre estate right on the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN. Glensheen has been open to the public for 35 years and welcomed over two million visitors in that time. For a majority of visitors, they have seen a large part of the house. But rarely do they see it all.

Only a limited number of guests have the behind-the-scenes spaces. For a short window of time, Glensheen offered the Nooks & Crannies Tour last summer. This unveiled previously restricted areas to the public.

Now is your chance to see these restricted areas and more exclusive spaces. On May 29th, Glensheen is unlocking the estate for Gala guests. At the Gala: Unlocked edition, you will have the chance to explore all floors of the mansion and Carriage House freely. Including the mansion’s infamous third floor and attic. For the brave ones, there may be a surprise in the attic.

Even experience spaces like, Clara’s Balcony with an unrivaled view of the Formal garden and Tishcer Creek. Climb the stairs to the second floor of the Carriage House. What more could the curious explorer want than to experience these off-limits spaces?

The silver safe will also be open for viewing. This is where the Congdon’s kept their most precious items, many of which are still there today. Glensheen doesn’t open this often, so be sure not to miss your chance.
