Best day ever

Dear Friends and Family

Thank you for all the love and support you have shown Laura and I since our wedding day. Today as many of you know (and your social algorithms will tell you) is our anniversary. I’m writing to you with 12 week old Luna by my side, Tommy’s watching Madagascar 2, Buddy and Scout looking for squirrels outside and Laura having a well earned lie in. I’ve been up since 6am thinking about this letter.

Tommy and Luna

I want to dedicate today’s special day (and all our future special days) to raising awareness about the climate crisis. I’ve never written anything like this to you all before. It feels awkward being campaign’y to those close to me. But I’m going to stick my neck out. Everything you’ve heard from Greta to Sir David, in your magazines, on your feeds and on your TVs is so true. We are facing the biggest threat to life on this earth since the dinosaurs were wiped out.

It feels totally overwhelming.

The damage being done to the climate seems unstoppable and we all share responsibility in some way. From the cars that we drive, to the planes that we fly, the food on our plates and the new clothes in our cupboards. But this doesn’t mean we can’t do something. Everyone is culpable in some way. So we’re all equal in this fight. You don’t have to live off grid. You don’t have to make your own clothes or walk around in sandals. You don’t even have to be a vegan (though it’s a bonus if you are one! :)). We just need to stop pretending some one else is going to sort it out.

We need to start talking about it at work, with our colleagues and our clients. We need to start changing anyway we can. And we need to show the powers that be that we want action now.

There is something we can do now. And it could have a massive impact.

All around the world young people like the UK Student Climate Network have been giving up their Fridays to strike. You may not have heard about it but over 50,000 students in this country alone have been raising the alarm up and down the UK. And now they need our help. On Friday September 20th the youth climate strike movement and climate campaigners across the world are calling for a GLOBAL CLIMATE STRIKE. We want to get 1 million people out in support of the strikers. Can you give up a day at work? Can you join or help others to? Can you bring the kids out? Can you tell your clients or customers how important this day is and that you’ll be OOO? This is one day that could be the kickstart this movement needs.

Remember we don’t have to be perfect to protest!

Much love

Zac
