DCM Announces Inaugural CannTech Summit

We’ve been optimistic about the cannabis industry for a while now and it has been thrilling to watch the industry take off, starting with the state of Colorado legalizing recreational cannabis use in 2014. That same year, DCM became the first venture fund on Sand Hill Road to get into the cannabis industry with our seed round investment in Eaze. Now, fast forward to 2019, the market is valued at $10.4 billion dollars and has attracted the attention of tech innovators, inspiring the evolution of a new segment: cannabis technology. All the signs point to 2019 being the year of cannabis, and we anticipate seeing more private investors join us in validating market trends.

That’s why we are excited to announce CannTech: DCM’s first Cannabis Technology Summit covering some of the most salient topics in the space today — including regulation, distribution, and financing — and culminating in a startup pitch competition with a $30k prize (“The Golden Seed”) to showcase some of the most exciting companies in the space.

If you’re a startup looking to propel into the cannabis industry, apply here by Wednesday, 4/17. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview between 4/22 and 4/29, with finalists invited to attend and pitch our esteemed panel of judges for their chance to win the $30k grand prize. Whether you’re working on a new CBD spritzer, farm management software for growers, or think you’ve cracked synthetic cannabinoids — we want to hear from you.

More broadly, CannTech attendees will gain practical tips and invaluable advice from industry leaders such as Jim Patterson (CEO of Eaze), Bharat Vasan (CEO of PAX Labs), and Gunner Winston (CEO of Dosist).

We are excited about where the industry is headed, and we created CannTech to be a platform for emerging cannabis professionals to come together to get funded, educated, and connected.
