Now that the Bordeaux 2017 en primeur campaign has finished, we are going to review some of the best value wines for every price range to close out our coverage of the 2017 vintage. While the coverage around the campaign was largely negative, we found some good value wines that were priced appropriately for those looking to buy en primeur. Our analysis looks at both the relative value compared to other wines in the vintage and the market prices of past vintages of the same wine.

While historically en primeur offers a good opportunity to purchase wine for a lower price, that is not always the case. In our analysis of 3,500 wines from 2000 to 20016, we found that the en primeur price is above the current market price in just over 10% of cases. Thus, it is important to use caution when buying en primeur and to look for wines that offer good value. You can find more good value wines by using our free en primeur price tool that allows you to compare each wine in the 2017 vintage and review past scores and prices.
