A Guardian Angel?

My maternal grandmother was Italian. She died years before I was born. All I know of her are second-hand tales and a few old photos. The we encountered on a street in Italy could have been her, but probably not. But maybe.

Genova, Italy

Genoa, or Genova, is a port city on the Ligurian Sea in northwestern Italy. If Italy is a leg, then Genoa sits the lap.

The events recounted here occurred while visiting this wonderful city on the sea.

What Tourists Do

Our day started early with a bicycle-carriage tour of the old city. We saw where the church and prostitutes once enjoyed a symbiotic existence that financed an old church. We traveled the narrow winding street with the high walls designed to disorient and entrap pirates. We saw a cathedral with an unexploded bomb still ins belly and where crafstman where so taken by a dog that inserted his likeness among the many saints surrounding the massive doors.

From Carriage To Sneakers

Our carriage tour ended shortly before the lunch hour. Rather than stop to eat we decided to return to our hotel…
