Passing Concrete Lions

It’s a beautiful morning. The sky is blue and the sun is shining. It is warm but not yet uncomfortably hot. I walk because someone once said it was good for my health. I walk because it provides an opportunity to clear my mind of thoughts that often bog it down. I walk because I enjoy it. Occasionally I’ll bump into a neighbor and engage in a brief conversation. I’m could probably name a dozen other reasons I enjoy my morning walks, if only I took the time to do so.

Everyday, my walk takes me past a pair of concrete lions. Their mighty roars silent yet menacing. They never fail to catch my attention.

When I see them I sometimes wonder if this could be heaven or hell. I’m never sure which.

There are times that wonder if I have died and gone to heaven, or maybe hell. This is easily the most idyllic home I have ever had. So obviously this must be heaven. Very little changes from day to day. However, the basic scenario stays the same day after day after day. Is it be possible that an eternity of never changing days may eventually reveal…
