What is it?

This event is a book talk with Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist Edward Humes.

Humes discusses his new book The Forever Witness and answers questions about the implications of genetic geneaology.

The Forever Witness is a true crime story about a Canadian couple that was murdered in Seattle in 1987.

The killer wasn’t found until three decades later when a new forensics tool was introduced — at-home DNA kits.

The case marked the first murder trial based on genetic geneaology.

3. SocietyX — Therapeutic Poetry Workshop

When is it?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2:00 PM (EST)

The event runs for 30 minutes.

How much does it cost?

Free

What is it?

This poetry class covers poetic terms and devices and goes over poems by classic and contemporary poets before you get to try your hand at writing your own poem from different prompts.

You will also workshop and get feedback on your poem.

The event is led by Lisa Ann Markuson, the founder of Ars Poetica, a company where you can book a poet for your event.

Her goal is “To fulfill the potential that poetry has to enrich every type of experience, on and off the page.”

If you enjoy the event, classes are hosted every Wednesday at the same time.
