Desperate criminal shoots Pune cops before he is nabbed

API and constable from Pune injured in encounter with wanted criminal at Vadodara in Gujarat

An assistant police inspector and a constable attached to the Anti Organised Crime cell (North Region) were attacked by Sagar Rajput, a member of the notorious Gaja Marne gang, at Vadodara, Gujarat, on Wednesday at 10.30 pm.
 Assistant police inspector Ranjeet Bhoite and Constable Dilip More and Rajput were all injured in the encounter. They were admitted to the ICU at Global Sunshine Hospital at Vadodara. Bhoite has sustained an injury on his leg, while More has injuries on his back. Though they were injured, the policemen succeeded in nabbing Rajput and put him in police custody.

The Crime Branch had a tip that the wanted Sagar Rajput, 36, of Kothrud was hiding in Mahakali Sevusal lane near Nehru Bhavan in Vadodara. They located and raided the place without the help of local police. When the policemen confronted Rajput , he fired on them, injuring both. The police in retaliation fired a few rounds and injured and apprehended Rajput.
 Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) P R Patil and family members of the injured cops left for Vadodara from Pune on Thursday.
 Police officials said that Rajput had been absconding since December 10, 2014 from Navi Mumbai, when gangster Gaja Marne and his nephew Rupesh were nabbed by Pune police. Rajput was wanted in the murder of Santosh alias Pappu Gawde and Amol Badhe, members of the Ghaiwal gang.
 In 2010, Sachin Kudle of the Marne gang was shot dead at Dattawadi. Amol Badhe was a suspect in this case. The Marne gang took revenge of Kudle’s murder, and in 2013, they murdered Pappu Taware of the Ghaiwal gang in his village. After that, on November 3, 2014, the Marne gang murdered Pappu Gawde of the rival Nilesh Ghaiwal gang in Lavale.

On November 29, 2014, Ghaiwal gang member Badhe, resident of Dattawadi, the main suspect in the Sachin Kudale murder case, was shot dead outside Vaikunth crematorium, while Santosh Kamble and Lakhan Lokhande sustained injuries.
 API Bhoite is now stable but the bullet has not yet been removed from Constable More’s body, and he will undergo surgery soon, as soon as he is stab]e. 
 Baroda Police Commissioner Radhakrishnan is monitoring the medical treatment.
