Two PMPML employees suspended for shooting a video in the women’s toilet at the public transport organisation’s central building

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has suspended two of its employees for video recording in the women’s toilet. The incident happened on July 11.

The employees have been identified as Mahesh Bujare, 25, and Dinesh Chavan, 18. According to PMPML officials, Mahesh was working in the central workshop as a cleaner for the past three years, and Dinesh was an apprentice worker on contract. Dinesh joined PMPML in November 2015.

The incident happened at the PMPML central building. There is a toilet which is separated by a plywood board into two sections, for men and women. A woman employee was in the toilet and she saw somebody is shooting a video with his hand on top of the partition.

Public Relations officer of PMPML Subhash Gaikwad told TGS, “The incident happened yesterday evening, when a women employee was in the toilet and saw somebody taking a video. She started shouting and came out from the toilet. Two men were seen coming out from the men’s toilet. The PMPML security officer took both of them in his custody. We are conducting an internal enquiry.”

According to PMPML sources, a complaint has been lodged at Swargate police station. But they have not arrested the culprits. A senior official said that the authority will submit the internal report to the higher authority and the report will be sent to the police.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) women’s city unit president Rupali Chakankar alleged that the police have not registered any complaint against them.

“The victim has told us that the police and PMPML authority was not supporting her. There are 25 women working in the office and they all use the one toilet on the second floor. The toilet has been separated into two sections. There are no safety measures for women. We have given a letter to the authority. After that they have suspended both of them,” she said.

After the incident, the security officials have sealed the men’s toilet. According to a senior official of the security department, they have started an internal enquiry and suspended both of the wrong-doers with immediate effect.

Swargate station Senior Police Inspector Sarjerao Babar said that they were conducting their enquiry.
