Human Nature

Xunzi believes that someones goodness is their deliberate effort, meaning they plan for the good things they do. This is also why Xunzi believes that human nature is bad. I agree with Xunzi because human nature is inherently evil. An example of someone being inherently evil would be Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy killed several women and never had a regret about doing it. Because he had no regrets about killing people that makes him a prime example of someone who is inherently evil. I don’t think human nature and deliberate effort are the same thing because deliberate effort is putting in the effort to do good or bad. Deliberate effort would be going against the grain of human nature. Human nature is the way people think, feel, and act. The difference is there is no choice when it comes to human nature but there is when it comes to deliberate effort.

I believe that your deliberate effort and human nature define who you are. Deliberate effort is a choice that could determine if a person is good or bad. Making deliberate bad decisions against human nature could make you a bad person. Which goes hand in hand with making deliberate good decisions making you a good person. I also think that if a person is working towards being a better they are giving a deliberate effort to change their life and work for human nature not against it. I think human nature doesn’t decide if you become a good or bad person it’s the deliberate effort that makes or breaks a person.
