Love Meaning Everything and Nothing

Bell hooks talks about love and how its been around for so long but people have a hard time talking about it and when its mentioned they have a wave of emotions. as stated in the text “our confusion about what we mean when we use the word “love” is the source of our difficulty” in that i think it means that we as humans use the word love so lightly now, that we don’t really mean it sometimes. With the idea of love being around as long as it has it shouldn’t be hard for people to talk about it or even say it when the time is right. “we can’t even talk or think about it directly” this is bringing me back to my first point that people are uncomfortable with the word love and how to use it. I think that the meaning of love is to be infatuated with someone, wanting to be around them all the time and can’t see your life without them. When it comes to hearing it in books or in the media they “avoid giving clear definitions” and I think it’s because we as humans don’t have a real definition of what love is and that’s what were feeding everyone. All in all in the way that we use love today is loose and that has to change if we’re ever going to be able to find a real definition for the word or make it on the same pedestal that it once was.
