I believe religion is the strict belief in an agreed-upon construct that dictates how a person should live their life. On the other hand, spirituality is the exploration of religion in ways that strengthen your personal relationship with what you believe in. It begins to break down the generational construct of what is right or wrong within religion and focus on the here and now. So, are they necessary for the good life? I do not think they are a necessity, yet I believe it is easier to live the good life through religion and spirituality. While both offer hope and meaning to life, I believe spirituality tends to fill the void and stop the feeling of endless running on the hamster wheel of life. It provides a place and thing to find peace within and to offer up your stress and worries. In both, religion and spirituality, it is easy to find stability. The answers to the questions you are asking can be found in books such as the Bible, Torah, and Quran. Whenever you feel lost or at a crossroads, turning towards religion and spirituality can serve as a guiding light. It also can provide a group of people who are looking for the same concepts of what they believe the good life is to come together. This group of people formulas a support system that can help offer the socialization needed to create the good life. It feels as though, you all are on the same team rooting for each other to succeed, and being able to be a part of something bigger than oneself can truly be a life-changing experience.
