Work is such an interesting topic. For blog post 14 I will be talking about the reading Marcha Sinetar Chapter 1 from her book Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow. There are roughly 161.4 million people in the us that are employed while only 6.4 million are unemployed. There are so many factors that play into the reason as to why we work as humans. Some are purpose, learning, economic pressure, potential, money, independence, recognition, human relationships, wanting to be productive, etc… If you were to take out these factors, I’m sure some would be more than happy to never work again and just live their life to the fullest. In the reading on page 15, it talks about how relationships with work entail drifting attention, clock-watching, and wishing to be somewhere else. All of this robs individuals of energy and satisfaction with the job itself now as a whole productivity could decrease. When you are working at a job that you do not have any interest in this causes boredom, frustration, failure to fulfill you as an individual, development, and enrichment. While all this is going on it changes your character you act differently at work. Specifically, your attitudes, feelings, and perceptions of productivity are seen on page 13.
