They were married in a ditch by an AK47. Her corsage was blood blooming flowers and he wore a rose through his heart. They knelt holding hands in the mud, unwed, un-bled and whole, with their family and their townsfolk all around them.

Now they lie down together, two become one, face down in the mud of the hole.

The Church bells rang the warning too late.
