“Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.” (Isaiah 19:25; ESV)

Isaiah is known and frequently quoted for his prophecies concerning the Messiah, but he was as much a prophet to the world as to the Jews.

God’s heart is and has always been for all people.

In a single verse, God unites three unlikely nations: Egypt, Assyria, and Israel.

Egypt enslaved Israel for 400 years before God sent Moses to set them free.

Assyria conquered Egypt and exiled the Israelites for decades.

They were enemies, but not in the eyes of God. They were all His people.

God doesn’t make distinctions between peoples. All people from all nations are His and are called to worship before His throne.

That’s the Gospel. That’s the Christmas story.

“All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,
and shall glorify your name.” (Psalm 86:9; ESV)
