“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice — the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” (Romans 12:1)

Worship is a lifestyle, not a song. The goal of worship is to recognize and declare the glory of God. There are many ways to do this.

Alternative Methods for Worship

Scripture

  • Divide the group in half and take turns reading a psalm aloud.
  • Share about a verse that has been meaningful in your life.

Meditation

  • Meditate on a name or attribute of God. Share your reason for choosing it. Give them a list to choose from.
  • Silently meditate on a verse or short passage. Afterward, ask the group if God spoke anything to them.

Other

  • Ask someone before the meeting to share a testimony. Sharing what God has done is a form of worship.
  • Complete the sentence together or individually, “I am so glad that God is ___________ ,“ and explain why.
  • Create a “God is greater than _______ “ list. Share some of them.
  • Write a poem, or draw a picture about God.
  • Collect and donate money to something as a group. Giving is worship.

Challenge yourself — individually and as a group — to worship God in new ways.
