“Your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action…others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the Gospel of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 9:2,12 NIV)

Enthusiasm is contagious, but it can also be annoying. If not paired with action, enthusiasm quickly turns into a negative trait.

Enthusiastic action stirs others to action. Obedience to Christ leads to praise — not just for you, but for God.

People are sick of hearing the truth from the mouths of idol preachers (not just referring to pastors here). Your confession — your message — has to be more than words.

Knowledge impresses, but obedience inspires.

If you want to impress people, grow your knowledge, and share the depths of your understanding. People will be impressed for a time, but it won’t last, nor will it lead to much because spiritual maturity is not measured by knowledge. It’s measured by obedience.

If you want to mature in your faith and make a difference in the world, do something. Yes, grow your understanding of God’s Word and become more knowledgeable overall, but your knowledge (however little it may be) should immediately change the way you live.

Your confession, paired with obedience, will inspire others.

Feet to Faith: Our Response

Become a man (or woman) of action today.

Stop saying I should. Start saying I will.

What is one thing that you know you should do but haven’t? Do it today.

Become the man (or woman) you admire and whom God created you to be, and watch how you will inspire others onward and upward.
