The Holy Spirit Comforts Us

In John 14:26, Jesus promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit, but He used the Greek word paraclete to describe Him. This Greek word translates as helper or comforter.

God is mission-oriented, but He’s also relational. Jesus kicked off God’s grand plan to rescue humanity, but not for a second has He forgotten about you and your situation. Your needs — your thoughts and feelings — are important to God. Your struggles are not insignificant to God.

He sent His Spirit to wage war against sin and death. He also sent His Spirit to comfort you. Both are priorities in the heart of God.

The Holy Spirit Renews Us

Are you feeling weary or burnt out? Are you feeling apathetic? Are you struggling to continue to have faith to expect great things?

What is burdening your heart and your mind? What is causing you stress?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28–30; NIV)

God does not desire to help you; He desires to renew you. Whatever is burdening you, give it to God, and He will give you rest.
