Why did He choose to hang out with them?

Jesus hung out with sinners and the outcasts of society — not because He accepted or supported their lifestyles, but to save them.
The religious leaders of the day, Pharisees, viewed this quite unfavorably.
“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” They asked Jesus.
And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” — Luke 5:30–32
