Tens of thousands of protestors joined world wide climate actions on September 20, 2019 demanding governments immediately reduce greenhouse gas emissions to prevent catastrophic climate crisis. The NYC action coincided with the United Nations Climate Summit where scientists and environmentalists testified to the urgency of the moment and the need for dramatic action. Young people, including middle and high school students, led the New York City march, which started in Foley Square and ended in Battery Park where speakers, including Swedish teenage activists Greta Thunberg, demanded leaders do more to protect the planet before it’s too late.
