The Domination Of Human Resources

The ever evolving and extending reach of HR is itself endangering the wellness of employees with its constant interference and surveillance.

When I was a younger, less experienced, and a considerably greener¹ neophyte in the Grand Game of Software Engineering I used to put a fair amount of trust in the idea that people generally knew what they were doing. The reason for that being, I really didn’t know what I should be doing and thought that it would be a good idea to learn from other people.

I guess that’s all where it started to go wrong.

As my primary relationships² were with fellow developers this was a trust that was repaid as generally developers do know what they’re doing³ and it’s because of this that things get built, deployed, and work in the real world.

Unfortunately, the degree of trust I placed in the other workplace institutions, namely management and Human Resources (even then I tried very hard to avoid marketing and sales, as I still do), was never repaid.

In fact it was taken outside via the rear fire escape, stood behind the company skip, summarily executed, cremated, and buried in an unmarked grave never to be seen again.
