“Joggling” His Way through the Finish Line

“My Standards are so low!”
Guinness Record Holder Alex Zerbe invites people to join his Great Climate Race team… even if they don’t know how to juggle.
5 questions with “The Juggler”
- Tell us something interesting about you team
“I’m a two time Guinness Book World record holder, one for a hacky sack trick, and one for a two person juggling trick” go figure! He added for good measure that, “for a pretty un-athletic guy it feels pretty good to be a record holder”
- Why are you in the Great Climate Race?
“Knowing Ben (the organizer) for so long and seeing how competent he is at everything he’s done, and the overall cause make it easy to support. The event is a very accessible way to get involved, because it’s more than reading a press release or catching a soundbite on the news.”

- Why should people join your team for the race?
“Hey, my good friend is doing this great event, it’s a great cause. Imagine helping see more solar panels being installed where they’re needed and wanted. Imagine helping fight climate change. It’s an easy way to do it, you’re planning to go for a run anyway!” Plus, you don’t need to know how to juggle or hacky sack to join his team; “my standards are so low, I’ll take anyone :-)”
- Do you have a message for other teams?
“No smackdown from me; don’t know if I’m in good enough shape. Simple, come on, it’s a good excuse to get outside, have a little fun and get a workout in. It’s something people should be doing anyway, so why not make it count.”
- Anything else you want to say?
“Hey you’re probably going to work out anyway, 2km or 10km walk or run you’re going to get the heart pumping, enjoy the fresh air and feel awesome. You’re going to feel even better because you’re doing it for such a good cause. Besides, it’ll be a beautiful day even if it rains”
Alex knows fun; so keep an eye out for the guy with a massive inflatable beard, wearing crazy pants, and a sequined hat. He’s promised not to juggle chainsaws, but you could see him “joggling” his way for a stretch of the course for sure.
