Chelsea

With the lack of European football, Chelsea had to only focus on the Premier League and the two local cups in England. At the end of the season, Chelsea had finished first, with 93 points, and taking the Premier League trophy home two times in the last three years. Players like Diego Costa, Eden Hazard, and N’golo Kante were key with this impressive run in the League. Unfortunately, Antonio Conte, reportedly over text message, made it clear to Costa that he was not a part of his plans for the 2017–2018 season. This shocked many Chelsea fans as Costa has put up impressive numbers last season, scoring 22 goals and 7 assists. Because of this, Costa has been contacted by his former club, Atletico Madrid, to make his return. To compensate for the loss of Costa, Conte has brought in Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata for a fee of £70 million. Will the La Liga striker be able to adjust to the Premier League? Along with this, Chelsea has done a number of small loan deals most notably with Kurt Zouma heading to Stoke City for the season.

Tottenham Hotspur

Despite finishing second last season in the Premier League, Tottenham had a disappointing season in Europe, getting third in their group in the Champions League, and then getting knocked out of the Europa League by Gent FC. Surprisingly, Tottenham has been very quiet during this summer’s transfer window with the loss of Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £45 million. Walker was essential to the Tottenham defense the last couple years, but Kieran Trippier will have to step up and take the starting role on the Tottenham defense. In other news, Tottenham has given Federico Fazio to Roma on a permanent deal. Fazio spent last season with Roma on loan and has finally landed a deal with the Italian club. Tottenham has a group of players that only require a bit more depth at this point. Players such as Swansea City’s midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson should be able to provide that. Overall, despite the lack of transfers for Tottenham, the club does not need much to improve their already impressive side.

Manchester City

Finishing third last season, Manchester City had one problem last season, their defense. Fortunately, City fans can rest easy as Pep Guardiola has done a complete defensive makeover. City has brought in Danilo, Benjamin Mendy, and Kyle Walker spending over £100 million to improve their weak defense. If these transfers live up to their potential, City will be serious candidates not only in the Premier League, but also in the Champions League. Perhaps the most exciting of the three to enter the Premier League is the 23 year old Benjamin Mendy. Being an understudy to players such as Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi will help Mendy grow into a outstanding defender. Fabian Delph, midfielder, looks to be heading out of City if a deal could be reached. Stoke City has put up a bid around £12 million to acquire the English midfielder. Will these changes be enough for Pep to get his first trophy in the Premier League?

Liverpool

Finishing fourth last season, Liverpool is finally back in the Champions League. Key players such as Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mané helped make this push back up to the top four in England. Jurgen Klopp, making Liverpool’s attack more deadly has decided to add Mohamed Salah to the club. The Roma winger last season had 20 goals and 12 assists in 44 appearances (all comps). Along with this, Liverpool have signed Hull City defender, Andrew Robertson. Robertson will be adding depth to the Liverpool bench while players like Joel Matip and Lovern will have the starting position. In recent days, Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been linked to a move to Barcelona with an estimated fee of £75 million. This news was also triggered due to rumors that Neymar may be heading out to PSG. If Neymar does go to PSG, expect Barcelona to do whatever they can to obtain Coutinho from the Reds. Also, rumors have it that Van Dijk, the Southampton Midfielder is being looked at by Liverpool, but will have to compete with the growing interest of other clubs in the top flight of England. Overall, it will be interesting to see not only how Liverpool performs in the Premier League next season, but also in the Champions League.

Arsenal

After being in the top four in England for 20 years, Arsenal finally finshes fifth in the Premier League. Arsenal ended their season on a high note though, winning the FA Cup. The first signing Arsenal made this summer was Sead Kolasinac. The former Schalke defender would be perfect fit for the Gunners as Nacho Monreal is starting to age. The Bundesliga team of the season player is known for his aggressive play style which may be what Arsenal needs in their defense right now. Along with this, Arsenal has always been linked to strikers and has finally signed one. Alexandre Lacazette, the former Lyon striker, has now signed for Arsenal and will hopefully bring them to the next level. The only concern that Arsenal fans should have is the quality of defense in the French League. Despite this, if Lacazette will be a great striker if he plays to the same level that he played in Ligue 1. Along with this, Arsenal is lining up for a third bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar. If Arsenal ends up with Lemar at the end of this transfer window it will be a great addition to the side. Lastly, Alexis Sanchez, one of the deadliest players in the League, looks as if he will not be joining Manchester City or PSG. Overall, Arsenal next season will have to work hard to be back into the top four.

Manchester United

Manchester United, despite finishing sixth in the Premier League, qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa League against Ajax in May. In terms of this summer, the big news revolved around the Everton front man, Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku and club struck a deal for an undisclosed fee. Although Lukaku has scored 20+ goals in the Premier League last season, he essentially becomes a ghost against top six sides. In his last season, 21 of the 25 goals scored by Lukaku were scored against the “bottom 13 clubs” . Manchester United is a club that is often involved in European competition, Lukaku needs to find some form against the top flight clubs if he wants to survive at Manchester United. Benfica defender, Victor Lindelof, has found his way to Manchester United for an impressive fee of £31 million. Lindelof is a great passer and has an amazing defensive mindset that will hopefully save the Red Devils from conceding some goals. Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has been sent back to his former club, Everton, for an undisclosed fee. Everton most likely has had a special place in Rooney’s heart since he has left. Even though Rooney has been on the decline the last two seasons, Manchester United should appreciate what he has done for them. Manchester United youth, Adnan Januzaj, has left the club for Real Sociedad. The winger showed great promise and Sociedad appears to have gotten a deal for him. Has Manchester United made the moves necessary to get back to the top four?

Everton

Everton finishing serventh last season and qualifying for Europa League is huge for the club. After losing their main striker, Romelu Lukaku, Everton has obtained their former player Wayne Rooney as a possible replacement as their forward. Along with Rooney, Everton possesses Kevin Mirallas, and Sergio Ramírez as their forwards. With the loss of Lukaku, came the loss of another player, Gerard Deulofeu. The winger has signed with Barcelona for an undisclosed fee. The loss of Deulofeu should not concern Everton fans as they have made a number of signings to assist their team. Most notable are Michael Keane, Burnley midfielder, and Jordan Pickford, Sunderland’s goalkeeper. Keane came off a very impressive season with Burnley and will help strengthen the Everton defense even more. It will be interesting to see how Keane adjusts to his new club in the coming season. Pickford, despite Sunderland getting relegated, came off of a great season with his club. Drawing the attention of the great clubs of England, he eventually landed at Everton. A great signing for the club as he is one of the best youth goalies in the world at the moment. Sergio Ramírez, the Malaga forward, came to Everton on an undisclosed fee. Having an above average performance in La Liga will hopefully help him get into form with the Premier League. Davy Klaassen was signed by Everton shortly after the deal with Jordan Pickford. The attacking midfielder, after many seasons at Ajax will hopefully be able to adjust to aggressive nature of the Premier League. Lastly, Everton signed Henry Onyekuru, a forward from the Belgium League. His play has described as being similar to that of Thierry Henry. Onyekuru is twenty years old and still has some time to develop, but if he does develop into a Thierry Henry he could be a legend at Everton. Will Everton be able to make a good run in the Europa League?
