This month, Netflix has some great film choices to watch. If you’re scrolling through Netflix looking for something worth your time look no further than this list. Here are the top five choices to view during your free time.

1: A Clockwork Orange

From the mind of acclaimed director, Stanley Kubrick comes this classic yet controversial 1971 dystopian crime film. Set in a near future dystopia of Great Britian, the film follows a young teen named Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell), a charismatic teen sociopath as he and his band of thugs Georgie (James Marcus), Pete (Michael Tarn), and Dim (Warren Clarke) wreak havoc across England through their own form of “ultra-violence,” ultimately leading to their demise. The film is enjoyable while also giving great social commentary on the world of psychiatry and the disheveled youth. Although, it does have some disturbing and intense scenes of violence, so I caution all who choose to watch it.

2: Stuart Little

From the classic children’s book of the same name, this film is a great watch for those looking to sit back and enjoy some nostalgic fun. The film follows the titular mouse (Michael J. Fox) as he adjusts to his new family of humans, the Littles, in the city of New York, along the way finding adventure and the true meaning of family. Fun for all ages, Stuart Little is a heartwarming tale that is fun for both families and those looking for a little bit of comedy.

3: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

The macabre mind of director Tim Burton brings this slasher/musical film to life. The story follows Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp) as he returns to the streets of London to bring chaos to those who did him wrong in the past, all the while making his victims pay the ultimate price. Like A Clockwork Orange, this film does have some disturbing imagery, but all the while, it is a great adaptation of the classic Broadway musical with musical numbers that will make you both sing along and think deeply.

4: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

From award winning director Ang Lee comes the martial arts classic that is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. The film follows an accomplished warrior (Chow-Yung Fat) who after choosing to retire gives his prized sword, Green Destiny, to his one love (Michelle Yeoh) to deliver to a generous benefactor in Beijing. However, an unknown assailant steals the sword, and now everyone is on the hunt for the sword. Featuring great performances and excellent action sequences, CTHD is a fantastic film for all to see.

5: The Notebook

A romance film that has captured the hearts of many, The Notebook is a classic tale of the power of true love. The film follows an elderly man (James Garner) who, after meeting another fellow resident (Gena Rowlands) in his retirement home decides to tell her a story of a young couple (Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams) who fell in love in the 1940s. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and all of your emotions will be spilled out once you’ve seen this film
