Apr. 16 we had two special guests at CHC, Hilken Mancini, and Emily Arkyn talked to the students about Punk Rock Aerobics.

Hilken, and Emily first started the day off by making everyone stand up in a circle and say each other’s names but after you said your name you had to add a stretch that the whole class had to do. They said this exercise works to break the ice with younger children.

Punk Rock Aerobics is an exercise class for people of all shapes and sizes doing diverse types of punk dance moves. The main goal of Punk Rock Aerobics is to say no to the status quo, what they mean by this is that they aim to inspire others and have a fun place where people can have fun and be themselves. Punk Rock Aerobics has had much press over the years being in Rolling Stone Magazine, MTV, People Magazine, Billboard, and VH1

The program first started out with adults but now they have an opportunity for children to join as well. Hilken and Arkyn run a camp where they teach children how to writer write their own songs and perform. They do this so every one of the children can get out of their shells and have their own voice.

Look out for more Punk Rock Aerobics
