With the end of the season approaching, Chestnut Hill women’s soccer have compiled a 2–8–2 record and are working to redeem their rocky start to the season.

In the team’s past three games, the players have played some of their best ball. The team’s eight-game losing streak was finally broken on Oct. 4 when the team captured a win against conference rival Holy Family University, which was followed by ties against Bloomfield College and Chowan University.

However, there have been many bright spots in a season where the focus has been on the commitment to improving in every aspect of the game.

Despite their losses, two third year players have stepped up and have received praise from their teammates for their performance in their recent games. Defender Kiersten Cobb-Wilkins and Meghan Guagenti, starting goalkeeper, have both seen some impressive personal improvements this season.

Cobb-Wilkins has produced at a much higher rate than she did last season. Currently, she’s tied for the team lead in goals and leads in assists, at three a piece.

“Kiersten is definitely stepping it up this year with her impressive free kicks,” said Captain Annalyse Culp.

Meghan Guagenti has been a valuable force in the goal this season with an 81 percent save percentage, turning away 69 of the 188 shots opponents have taken on her.

The team has only five games left and every player is ready to make them count. The Griffins will play Felician University on Senior Day at 4 p.m. Oct. 22 and will cap off their season against conference foe Philadelphia University at noon Oct. 25.

“The team’s season has been rough,” Cobb-Wilkins said, “but we’re looking forward to finishing the season strong.”
