Australia is going through what’s called a Tech Boom. The software sector in Australia has largely benefitted from lowering their costs of web development and increasing the quality of the software workforce. This has led them to become the most lucrative target for ICT investments by international tech giants like NEC, Google, Canon and IBM who have built their software development facilities in the country.

BOOM!

What is the Tech Boom?

Our industry is driven by computer systems. Information Technology has enabled better and efficient ways to go about our international as well as personal matters. From trading, transport and currency to food and travel — ICT has become the backbone of it all. Though all of this heavily depends on the quality of software engineers and computer programmers we have in the industry.

How huge is that demand you talk about?

Interesting Fact: Almost all the non-tech sectors have some sort of dependency on technology. Let’s discuss a few examples:

  • The increased demand of cyber security has led businesses to hire security analysts.
  • Graphic designers also require some level of web development skills.
  • Environmental scientists need to analyse large amounts of data for which they need data analysts.
  • Even educational institutes are undergoing a digital transformation. And the list keeps growing.

In just 5 years, Australia’s requirement for ‘Software and Applications Programmers’ grew by a staggering 44.4%. The need to be working in tech field to learn coding no longer matters. Because 67% of programming jobs are from the non-tech industries. So it’s not just great for our country but also for your career prospects. An impressive 16,000 new jobs a year are expected to open up in this job role alone, making coding a sought-after skill that is definitely worth learning.

Coding — International Love

We are expanding and spending more on ICT than ever!

Sure, computer programming seems like a valuable skill to have regardless of your career path, but there’s good news for people already in the ICT industry. The value for quality programmers have been increasing dramatically. With Australian e-commerce making over $27.5 billion and code-driven products making an estimate of $93 billion, the industry demands highly skilled programmers. And not just programmers but people with experience in Web development, Database development, Computer networks, Cyber security, Data science etc. An experienced CS person will only be an application away from landing a placement in International Tech Corporations.

Food for brain!

Coding not only provides you with worthwhile career opportunities but also helps you train your mind in realms of problem solving, logical thinking and creativity. It’s like a treadmill for you brain, and you can see the results instantly. Your brain feels the rush of dopamine when you see yourself solving problems! Creating exciting new things releases dopamine, which plays a major role in our unique human ability to think and plan.

Lastly, what’s important is not bookish knowledge but hands-on training. With technology evolving everyday and demand for high-end applications increasing, one must be well-studied and well-practised to stand out and become a part of the thriving Information Technology industry. What if we told you it’s possible within a matter of 16 weeks?
