A month-long storytelling campaign to take place at Inkwood Books
A month-long intergenerational storytelling campaign led by The Best Day of My Life So Far and sponsored by Republic Bank will kick-off on June 24.
A month-long intergenerational storytelling campaign led by The Best Day of My Life So Far and sponsored by Republic Bank will kick-off on June 24 and continue through July 23 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m and older adults 5:50 p.m. to 7 p.m. During the first hour of the kick-off event, Benita Cooper, founder of The Best Day of My Life So Far will train local teens how to use research-backed listening techniques during conversations with older adults. Their newly learned skills will be put into practice during the second half of the event as they pair up with older adults to hear and write down their stories. RSVP for both teen and older adult participants is required as space is limited.
From June 24 through July 23, all South Jersey residents are invited to participate by spending time with an older adult, listening to a story of his/her choice, and then retelling it with that adult’s permission.
Those stories can be submitted via social media platforms with the tags #realliferealstories @bestdayofmylifesofar or via an online form at https://bit.ly/2FYemdp. Each story should be paired with a photo of the storytelling duo.
All stories submitted during the campaign will be considered for a “Stories of South Jersey” special collection, which will be compiled after the campaign period and available at Inkwood Books and on Best Day’s website. Each submission will be entered into a raffle to win a $35 Inkwood Books gift card. Multiple submissions are welcome.
