Haiku 2023–218
my disappointment
after an hour of thinking
this is my haiku
— —
Life is full of cycles, ebbs and flows. Last weekend I had an absolute monster weekend and accomplished so many things personally and creatively. On Wednesday, my throat started feeling scratchy and by Friday I found myself deep in the clutches of either allergies or a summer cold. Despite my fervent efforts to push through and make something out of this weekend, I struggled to get even the most basic things done. This includes writing haiku. I woke up earlier than most Sunday mornings and tried to start my day through my normal routine, but my wife came out into the room an hour later to find me asleep in my writing chair with a blank prompt sitting in front of me. After going back to bed and waking back up and starting again, I figured I might as well lean into the struggle. Sometimes you get haiku that border on the literary, sometimes you get this.
