they arrived — small little lives
like acorns, they’ve grown
— —
I remember the day my wife and I brought our twin daughters home. They seemed so tiny and fragile in their car seats. We stopped at least three times on the forty-five minute journey home to make sure they were okay. I was absolutely terrified that I was going to make some mistake that would completely ruin their lives. Twenty years later, I’m relatively sure I didn’t. Both of them are following disparate paths through their life of which I am proud. Happy birthday to them! May their lives unfold in front of them in a kind and gentle way.
