not always welcome

the sound of September rain

but needed today

According to my weather station, we’ve received 0.02 inches of rain in September… that is until this morning. Last night the heavens relented at last and sent us a half an inch of rain during the night. I lay in bed last night and heard the sound of it on our rubber last evening and thought of a line in Mendelssohn’s Elijah — “thanks be to God, he laveth the thirsty land.”
