Vardhaku: Earth
My second contribution to Promptly Written’s The Writing Prompts (Jan. 1–7, 2022)
After posting my sixku yesterday, I felt more inspiration coming to me. So I wrote another piece based on the same prompt: Poetic Visions — “Set your senses free” — The first sunset after a winter freeze. (Thank you Christine Graves!)
The poem is a vardhaku.
Earth
Bare trees
salute early new light;
the distance between shadows grows relentlessly,
releasing the trapped mistiness of bleak bygone days —
earth’s handwriting lives between land and sky too.

What Is the Vardhaku?
The vardhaku is a poetry form that I co-founded with Justin Smith last year. You can read more about it below.
