Yesterday a child scolded me. For something I did not even do. Last week, an older woman scolded me for a thing — yes, OK, I did do. I’ll admit. And I believe it is a thing that is technically illegal. But still, she didn’t need to yell. Right at a person? It is very jarring to have an older woman yell at you and it is also jarring, but less, to have a young boy yell at you. Strangers to me, both of them, but now we share a special bond: they yelled at me in public in a way that was quite jarring.
