“I’ll go out there with my magazines, listen to music and make phone calls. It is like a fairyland.”
— Are backyard greenhouses — “sunny, private, plant-filled sanctuaries filled with the sound of classical music or NPR” by day, “sparkling spaces for cocktails amid exotic foliage” by night — the “new woman cave”? I buy it. Maybe Jane can put these ones in the Bargain Bin on Friday. And knock down some of the buildings behind my apartment. But no: the takeaway is that we all deserve a place to drink in private, and where the plants will fix everything.
