One Direction last performed together on a Sunday night, Dec. 13th, 2015, on the season finale of the British iteration of “The X Factor.” They sang a single from their fifth album, accepted accolades from Simon Cowell and others, and then vanished into the night to begin a hiatus with no end-date. Between them, in the months since they last took the stage, they have officially announced very little — four solo record deals, the birth of a child, the founding of a golf management company. But each week they are out in the world, doing things, going places. This is what we know.

On Saturday, Harry Styles was spotted out in London holding a very tiny cup of tea. On Tuesday, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, divulged on the radio that Styles had been at his house Monday night and had, as Grimshaw put it, “kicked an old dog poo across my landing last night.” (I apologize for the crudeness of this sentence, but I must report it, it is my job.) Pixie Geldof, George Barnett, and Alexa Chung were also in attendance at the hang, which, according to various posts social media, involved Netflix and curry.

Liam Payne gamely posed for a pic with a flight attendant during a flight to LA. He later posted a video for a charity promotion he is doing for AIDS research. He is a good boy.

Louis Tomlinson had a well-documented writing session with some songwriters. Later he cuddled with an unknown dog. Monday he had an early morning on his LA-area patio for an undisclosed reason. Perhaps the unknown dog? Or maybe his human child.

On Tuesday, Niall Horan watched President Barack Obama’s farewell speech and got a little emotional. He later went to a McDonald’s in London. (The video evidence of the visit was recorded by a very annoying girl and Horan is visibly unhappy to be videoed, but again, in the service of journalism, here it is.)

Notable Adjacent News

Ben Winston, longtime One Direction music video director, tweeted to encourage fans to vote for One Direction for the Brit Award for British Video Artist of the Year. Anne Twist, mother of Harry Styles, took heed.

Ansel Elgort, the actor and DJ, posted a video of himself covering Niall Horan’s single “This Town.” Horan retweeted it. It’s fine.
