This Is a Goodbye Post
Hey, young lovers.
I’m out. No! It’s going to be okay. This is the internet, I’m not, like, moving to a new city your parents won’t want to drive you out to on the weekends. And I’ve written a rambling books post for you that will be up later this afternoon, so this is not The Last of Nicole for today, even.
Where am I going? Well, on July 1st, Mallory Ortberg and I are launching our own site. You’ll hear more about it later. Leaning in, following your dreams, etc.
I’ve loved my time here so much, and I want to thank all of you for reading my work, and I especially want to thank Edith Zimmerman and Choire Sicha and Alex Balk, who have been relentlessly kind and supportive of me in every possible way, including my very-recent decision to venture out on my own, like one of those starfish it’s supposed to be worth your effort to toss back into the ocean in inspirational email forwards from 1998. If Mallory and I can make a site that comes close to being as good as this one is on a mediocre day, I’ll be very, very happy.
Not to dork out completely on you, but I genuinely feel like we’ve, um, become friends over the last two years, so, thank you, again, for everything.
xoxoxoxo
Nicole
P.S. In the meantime, you can always find me on Twitter and Tumblr and nicole dot cliffe at gmail dot you know how this works.
P.P.S. I really wanted to pretend that Edith fired me for the Lannister picture, but my commitment to performance art waned at the last minute.
