US Abortion Rate Levels Off

This country has seen a “steady, long-term decline in the number and rate” of abortions since 1981, but new data compiled by New York’s Guttmacher Institute shows that this decline leveled off in 2008, the most recent year the data is available. As with the recent data showing teen pregnancies at their lowest rate in 70 years, the recession is being cited as the reason for the stagnation.
