How many of us seek second or third opinions before starting on something? And then, how many of us listen to those pieces of advice?

If you’re anything like me, you prefer to venture out into the wild and figure things out yourself. Sure, some advice might help, but we are not interested in how things turned out for you. We want to know how things will turn out for us. What worked for you does not necessarily work for us, so we are better off exploring ourselves.

I know, majority of the advice out there aim to help us avoid a potential pitfall. If you’re lucky, the advice you chanced upon had worked for you. But for the rest of us, advice do anything but to help us.

How many of us, when we were young, actually listened to our parents? They told us to study harder in school to live a better life in the future, but as children, we were more interested in other aspects of life. Despite my mother telling me my friends were no good for me, I stuck with them for two more years before I decided that they were toxic. If I had heeded the advice, I wouldn’t have suffered for another two years. However, I didn’t regret not listening.

No Spoilers in Life

Our parents see the world with wisdom while we view the world with naivety. More often than not, they have experienced what we are currently going through in life. Then, there are probably thousands of advice on what we should do to live a better life. I’m grateful for those words of wisdom, but I would like to discover the wonders of life without spoilers.

Getting advice is the same as watching a movie. Most of us would rather enjoy the movie without someone telling us the exact story plot. What’s the point of watching then, when we know exactly what’s happening next. When we jump over the hurdle in life ourselves, we get to see real essence. We learn to make our own decisions and choose our friends wisely. We learn to see through other people’s masks. That is a valuable skill to have in life.

With Sufficient Time, Anything is Possible

Time is everything. We need time to see the true colors of others. Time will tell us what went wrong and teach us to see the world through our eyes and not the eyes of the wise adults.

There’s no advice for everything. Instead, we should learn to create guidance for ourselves. Only we know what’s best for us.

We need time to live through our setbacks and failures in life to learn what worked and what didn’t. When we take the time to experience our lives, the lesson learned is the most memorable. Then, we understand why others told us what we should do next. These takeaways stick in our brains forever, and it becomes a personal experience.

Advice Put Us in Jail

Imagine being restricted to a room, with only four walls facing you. We don’t necessarily have claustrophobia, but nobody likes the feeling of being trapped somewhere. Occasional advice can be helpful, but too much becomes harmful and confine us instead. We tend to only listen to the type of advice we want to hear, not what we need to hear.

The advice we seek stops us from venturing out and discover the real essence of life. Everyone has a unique journey in life. Our unique experience is what forms our advice in life for ourselves. This advice is the only thing we need. We don’t need from others; we can create our own.

Stop Wasting Time Finding the Perfect Advice; It’s Not Worth It

You are the expert on you. Only you know your situation best. Advice serves as a guide to help you come to decisions that make the most sense in your life. Pieces of advice can be unhelpful and end up leading you in the wrong direction in life.

We are all in this journey of life together. There are bound to be ups and downs in any journey you embark on. You’ll come out with the perfect set of tools to live your best life along the way. Treat life as an adventure, where you discover the endless possibilities.

Life is too valuable to waste precious time seeking advice. Discover the treasures hidden in life for you, without any spoilers on what’s going to happen next.

I wish you all the best in your lifelong treasure hunt.
