It’s time for REST or RESET
Have you ever faced a situation where you are busy with work, numerous projects lined up for release and suddenly you don’t feel like getting out of bed? You know you are needed but your body or mind doesn’t seem to be listening to you. Has it happened to you? It did with me and that’s when I realized my blunder.
While I was so engrossed with work, which to be honest I love doing, I didn’t foresee this coming.
Yes, I’m talking about the scenario where you overdo what you love you don’t care to take a break, and end up sapped.
Most of us plan on the tasks we must do within the quarter, the sales you need to reach, the pitches to be made and the clients to be dealt with. However not many have the habit of planning our rest periods. Ok! At least not me.
It’s only when we are completely stressed that we realize our body is not taking it any longer. It was a red signal for me. I’m sure you might have faced it too! The problem is most of us don’t pay heed to it at all! Until we are forcibly stopped. How many second chances do you think we have? Take that vacation you planned to go on months ago but had to cancel because of work. Go to that beach party with your friends. Take that break you deserve. If not, your body will forcefully shut down like a laptop unwilling to power up.
If you think stress is bad enough, listen to this. So many work hours together to impress their bosses. Many spend hours in front of laptops animatedly typing in the month’s sales. If you feel irritated most of your day, feel groggy, feel stuck, and doubt your motivation, you must realize you are depleted and need to recharge. You are facing a BURNOUT.
There is a huge difference between being STRESSED and facing BURNOUT.
You feel stressed when you overwork while you enjoy your work and there is no ME time. However, you face burnout when you are no longer connected with what you do. You feel exasperated all the time and your life doesn’t seem to be at peace.
It’s essential to know this difference because if you are stressed, all you need is REST to get back on track. However, if you feel you are going through burnout, it’s high time to check your priorities and principles to see that your work aligns with them. That’s when you know you must RESET YOUR LIFE.
So, take a minute to think if you can afford to take REST or need to RESET your life.
