3 books I want to read this month
The weather could not be better up here in Berlin and it is time to stack my bookshelf with some reads. Here are 3 books I’ll be adding to my reading list:
1. Swiss Maid by Margrit V. Zinggeler
As a Swiss person, I am really excited about the untold history of how Swiss women helped build my tiny country with the world’s 6th largest GDP.
2. The Gothic Edited by Simon Bacon
The Gothic promises to explore everything ‘from ghosts to vampires, from ruined castles to steampunk fashion.’ This group of essays covers the concept from its eighteenth century origins to its modern day use, ranging from cinema to Mexican rock bands.
3. Belonging by Noel O’Connell
Language is such an important part of our lives, and drives (arguably) much of how we understand our world. But what happens when you begin life as a deaf person? Taking from their own childhood experiences, Noel O’Connell explores the ideas of language and culture, as well as the concept of belonging in a society dominated by language.
What do you think? What will you be reading this month?
