There are many similarities between most people’s progress charts in learning to play the guitar and learning to speak a foreign language. Usually, when somebody decides they’re going to learn, they go out and buy all the equipment they need and then either buy a book or a course, or they hire a tutor to help them.

The first lesson, or specifically five minutes into the first lesson, is generally where the motivation for learning is at its highest. So, this is where you need to get enthralled by the learning process. If you’re not enthralled by learning when your motivation is at its peak, then there’s no way you’re going to want to keep learning a few weeks down the line.
