By Jessica Rozycki

Graphic of our This Week in Wizard Activism logo! It features the words “This Week in Wizard Activism” and our logo on a blue background.

Happy Friday, Wizard Activist! Let’s do this.

Simon and Bram from Love, Simon fist bump, then pull back and open their hands.

Actual footage of me rolling up to Camp GLA.

Simon shuffles/dances backwards in front of his closet.

As I’m sure most of you know, tickets are now available for Camp GLA! Join us July 17–19 for the virtual conference where fans, creators, organizers, and academics of all ages come together to tap into our collective imagination as a powerful force for good. Some highlights of upcoming programs included in this year’s lineup are discussions on how to de-center whiteness in media, comparing Azkaban to the current U.S. prison system, how gaming can be used for social change, and SO MUCH MORE. Or should I say…so much S’MORE. Make sure to register for Camp GLA to hear more camp related puns.

The HPA: turning fans (and families) into heroes.

Simon’s parents sit next to each other on the couch and share the exchange “We’re good parents. Yeah we’re good parents. Right?”

This week, the HPA hosted a call with parents and youth about what kind of resources and programs fan activist families need to help them make a difference in 2020 and beyond! Because we need more magical families in the world.

Alternatively, The HPA: a place for fellow weirdos.

Overhead view of Simon and Leah laying with their heads in opposite directions, facing the ceiling, while Leah asks “Do you ever feel weird?”

If the answer to this question is YES…guess what? US TOO!!!! That’s why we want you to join our team of passionate weirdos who are working hard to do some good in the world. Find out more info about our open volunteer positions and how to apply here.
