Happy Thursday everyone! Times are unfathomable right now, but I hope this brings a little hope into your week. Let’s carry ourselves into This Week in Wizard Activism with a quote from Angela Davis from Freedom is a Constant Struggle: I would say that as our struggles mature, they produce new ideas, new issues, and new terrains on which we engage in the quest for freedom. Like Nelson Mandela, we must be willing to embrace the long walk toward freedom.

She-Ra and The Princesses of Power: Glimmer and Sea Hawk appear to be at the wheel of a ship together and cheering in delight.

Black Lives Matter

We are all aware of what’s happening right now in the world. The HPA absolutely stands with the Black Lives Matter movement. In coordination with one of our partners, Black Girls Create, we hosted a charity livestream this past Friday. We helped raise $3,000 which went towards the total of $16,000 that Black Girls Create raised to support various Black-led organizations! Thank you to everyone who was able to donate and thank you to everyone who joined. You can find the livestream here if you would like to watch.

There are so many ways you can continue to help with this movement. Protest, donate, learn, educate, sign petitions, have hard conversations. Follow and listen to established Black leaders. Take action when asked. None of us are strangers to activism, so we must also remember to rest. If you’re going to a protest, check out these safety tips that we’ve collected before you go out. And remember: All lives don’t matter until Black lives matter.

To our Trans and GNC siblings…

We see you. We love you. We support you. We are a community that will always be here for one another. If you haven’t seen them yet, here are the first and second statements that The HPA released about this issue. And here is what Daniel Radcliffe had to say about the matter as well. If you feel like you need immediate help, please contact Trans Lifeline or The Trevor Project. Otherwise, always know that the community is here for you. Our love and support for one another is the strongest defender.
