This Week in Wizard Activism: Spooky Season

Happy Thursday everyone! Let’s continue the celebration of Spooky Season!!! The most wonderful time of the year because it’s also our Fall Fundraiser time! We’ve got plenty of updates, so let’s get right into it.
Staffer of the Week
Our Staffer of the Week this week is Caroline Linden! Caroline is currently a Chapter Liaison, but started in the Granger Grants Program. She’s a Ravenclaw from Cleveland, OH. Our Anonymous nominator says, “Caroline is always ready to take on new challenges and she’s an all-around excellent member of the LED team!” Want to get to know her more? What social justice causes are you most passionate about?
I always say I’m “passionate about passionate people”. I’m most passionate about getting the right people plugged into the right places so that we can all make social change happen together.
What was the first social justice action you took part in?
When I was about 7, I did a Crop Walk at my parents’ church to raise money for nonprofits focusing on food access. It was one of those walks where you get people to pledge money and you walk a certain number of miles. I remember my mom gave me “Tuffy” the beanie baby afterward for walking so far (it was the 90s!)
Fave HP book and why? (or favorite book of all time)
OotP. I’ve always been into dystopian fiction and I really enjoyed the rebel against the government storyline. Plus, I just always appreciated angsty Harry because it’s super realistic given what he went through at the end of GoF.
Last show you binge-watched?

Favorite class you’ve ever taken in school?
Oh wow, it’s been a while. I had a college course called “The Politics of Humanitarian Aid” which was really interesting and I learned a lot.

Fall Fundraiser updates
As most of you know, we are in the midst of our awesome Fall Fundraiser. We are halfway to our goal! Don’t forget to share the fundraiser with everyone by going to expectoequality.org so that we can continue, “helping fans reclaim the power of story and make a major impact in communities, in the streets, and at the ballot box.”
Not only will you be helping us, but you could also get some amazing perks along the way. To coincide with National Coming Out Day, we are launching this awesome new shirt below. But hurry!! This perk will only be available 10/11–10/13.
